The History of Seawind Trading The origins of Seawind date back more than 50 years to the early trading activities of one of our founding fathers, Wink Cade. Wink canvassed the canneries, Ethnic Mercado's, and the docks of the Los Angeles harbor, searching for trading opportunities. Starting with seafood and canned goods, the opportunities expanded to industrial ingredients from overseas sources. The key to the success of the trading business came with the ability to locate what the customer needed. Following in Wink's footsteps, the company's principals travelled the world to find the best resources for a wide variety of food ingredient needs. |

In 1963, the business was incorporated into a worldwide known food supply company under the name of Cade
Grayson Company. For decades the company continued to distribute a vast assortment of canned, frozen, fresh
and dehydrated fruits, meats, seafoods, vegetables and spices.
From 1981 through the early 90’s, the company expanded operations by adding Geographical Sales Offices and
Independent Brokerage firms to the marketing plan. The product focus intensified in the specific field of dehydrated
vegetables. The Cade-Grayson Company prospered and grew into one of the largest U.S. importer and distributor
of dehydrated vegetable ingredients.
In 1987, Seawind Trading International was established as a separate company to return to the roots of the
original business. The goal was to focus on the “trading” aspects of the original company. Seawind grew from the
core products of spices, dried tropical fruits and specialty food items. From that base, the business expanded to
industrial food ingredients and production management.
Utilizing the years of experience and exposure to processing facilities throughout the world, Seawind became
a mentor to companies both domestic and abroad. Seawind has overseen and managed the creation and
development of production operations in Mexico, Chile, and China.
Seawind International has grown throughout the years to become a major supplier to many multi-national
companies. Seawind has created and participated in joint venture operations domestically, as well as in Asia
and South America providing resources and distribution of goods worldwide.
Seawind has assisted in the development and financing of production factories located in China. Seawind also
has exclusive processing contracts for specific goods in Thailand, Sri Lanka and China.
Today Seawind continues to be an industry leader in worldwide supplies of premium industrial food ingredients.
Currently Dehydrated Vegetables and Specialized Dried tropical fruits lead the product list of goods. The value of
the company continues to prosper and grow well beyond the production and supply of the ingredients. Recognized
within the food trade as a trusting and creative resource for ingredients, Seawind is consistently utilized as a
resource arm for many companies.
Seawind has founded and developed ingredients to the U.S. market that were not previously grown or
harvested in various countries. Current supplies of dehydrated ingredients from China such as Beet Powder and
Jalapeno products can be attributed and traced to Seawind development.
The best definition of Seawind International within the company’s food product division is producer
and worldwide resource distributor.
Seawind continues to work on and welcome new projects to develop both products and International Operations. |
